The Modafinil in the Modalert smart pill acts on the body after a few minutes of being taken. As such the Orexin receptors (OX1 and OX2) in the body are excited by the compound. This excitation activates the Orexin peptide, or as it is called, Hypocretin peptide. This peptide is responsible for the cognition and the wakefulness of the user. The user starts to feel awake and active by now. The Dopamine neurotransmitter is now affected. The Dopamine neurotransmitter is produced by the Hypothalamus of the brain. Dopamine in the body is responsible for the cognition, the activeness and the mood elevation process of the individual. This neurotransmitter is taken up by the synapses in the body.  The reuptake of this neurotransmitter is restricted by the Modafinil compound. Now a pool like structure is formed in the vicinity of the reuptake point. The increased level of Dopamine is used by the body for its later purposes. Other hormones like Norepinephrine, Histamine, and Serotonin are also increased. These increased levels of hormones and neurotransmitters give the user the much needed ‘euphoric’ effect.

It is seen that the Modalert smart drug takes effect in the body within minutes of being taken. As a general knowledge Modalert and any of the Modafinil derived smart drugs normally stay and affect the user for 12-13 hours. It should however be noted that the medication is not an alternative for rest or proper food or drink intake.
