A very popular medication for treating impotence is Viagra. It
is the brand version of the PDE5 inhibiting compound Sildenafil Citrate. In
fact it is the world’s first medication for the treatment of erectile
dysfunction to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration, USA. Earlier it
was used for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension, which is a type of high
blood pressure that affects the arteries of the lungs. Later it was found that
the medication Viagra

users. As such the medication was used for the treatment of erectile

Sildenafil Citrate in the Viagra ED pill inhibits the
degrading action of Phosphodiesterase type 5 hormone of the body. This PDE5
actually destroys the cGMP that is responsible for the stiffening of the Corpus
Cavernosum that causes an erection. Following that, the blood vessels of the
genitals relax, thereby making the blood in the vicinity enter them causing an
erection. It should be noted that the medication is not as effective without
stimulation. Viagra is an ED medication that is known to last for around 5
hours.
