Erectile dysfunction or impotence is a grave source of
concern for our society. We tend to look at people with erectile dysfunction
problems with a certain level of mockery. This makes the person feel even worse
when it comes to the fact of sharing or discussing the issue with someone. The person
also feels guilty that he is unable to gain or maintain an erection that is
firm enough for intercourse and is thereby unable to satisfy his partner.
There can be many causes of erectile dysfunction that can be
listed. Some of them are listed as follows:
- Cardiac and/ or neural diseases
- High cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Parkinson’s disease
- Accident or shock of some kind.
Erectile dysfunction is the incapability a man faces to get or
maintain an erection firm enough for intercourse. It must be noted that every
man has had to face at least one such occurrence of having the trouble to gain
an erection. But these are remote incidents, not a thing to worry about.
However, when the incidence of these incidents increases, the person needs to check
with a doctor and gain suitable medical advice.
Erectile dysfunction can have many emotional effects, often
leading to the person losing self-assurance, losing the will, or even feeling responsible
that he is unable to satisfy his partner correctly. There are many pills that
have been developed that to counter the effects of erectile dysfunction in men.
This causes the user to turn towards ED medications like
Viagra. Viagra is perhaps the world’s first oral ED medication to be approved
by the Food and Drug Administration in USA in 1998.
Viagra
was initially used for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension in people. As
time passed though people realized the impact of Viagra or Sildenafil Citrate
in causing erections in men. As such Viagra went on to be used as a measure of
treatment of impotence in men.
The Sildenafil Citrate compound in the Viagra ED pill limits the degrading
action of the Phosphodiesterase Type 5 in the body. This PDE5 hits the cGMP of
the body which is mostly answerable for the erections in men. Then after the
intake and the inhibition, the blood vessels in the genitals relax up, and this
makes the blood in the nearby area to pour into the blood vessels. This swells
the blood vessels. This swelling causes the Corpus Cavernosum to harden up.
This tightening of the tissue lets the user get an erection sufficiently firm
enough for intercourse. It should be seen that the medicine is unproductive
when there is no stimulation to the user.
Uses
- Its primary function is to treat erectile dysfunction
- It is still used for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension.
Some of the precautions are:
- Always notify your doctor about your allergies or any prior medications.
- Never overdo the med
- This medication is untried for the feminine physiology therefore the med should be kept away from by women, until there is decisive proof that the med is suitable for women.
- People inflicted with any cardiac, renal or hepatic ailments should avoid the drug as it may cause the worsening of the ailment.
- Never mix alcohol and Viagra as the blood pressure of the person may come down to dangerously low levels.
