The Orexin peptide or as it is also called, Hypocretin peptide, is responsible for the regulation of arousal, wakefulness and the appetite. As time goes on, Dopamine is inhibited from being taken up by the synapses. Dopamine is also an important neurotransmitter in the body that is responsible for the cognition increase and the promotion of wakefulness. As this neurotransmitter is inhibited, there forms a pool of Dopamine in the vicinity of the reuptake point. This excess level of Dopamine is later used by the body to facilitate the body functions during the day. Other hormones like Norepinephrine (regulates wakefulness and elevates heart rate), Serotonin (regulates the mood, useful for the memory and for the creation of new neurons [Neurogenesis]), and Histamine (regulates sleep cycle) are also increased. This makes the person feel better with a euphoric and clear headed energy. People have reported that a pill of Provigil brings a clear headedness that helps the person in taking better refined and smart decisions.
